 밴드 데이식스(DAY6)가 데뷔 10주년을 맞아 첫 야외 스타디움 공연을 성황리에 마쳤다. 이들은 8월 30, 31일 경기 고양종합운동장에서 10주년 기념 투어 ‘더 데케이드(The DECADE)’의 포문을 열고, 지난 10년을 정리하는 동시에 다음 10년을 예고했다.

 데이식스가 고양종합운동장에 입성한 의미 있는 공연이었다. 2015년 11월 예스24 무브홀에서 출발한 이들은 고척스카이돔, 케이스포 돔(KSPO DOME) 그리고 고양종합운동장까지 국내 밴드 사상 최초로 입성하며 K팝 밴드의 새 역사를 써왔다. 원필은 “이곳에서 공연할 수 있다는 것은 다 여러분 덕분”이라며 객석을 가득 채운 팬덤 ‘마이 데이(My Day)’에게 고마움을 전했다.

 세트리스트는 데이식스의 10년을 총망라했다. 데뷔곡 ‘콩그레츄레이션(Congratulations)’부터 ‘놓아 놓아 놓아’ ‘반드시 웃는다’ ‘슛 미(Shoot Me)’ ‘행복했던 날들이었다’ ‘웰컴 투 더 쇼(Welcome to the Show)’ ‘녹아내려요’ 등 대표 타이틀곡들이 쉴 새 없이 몰아쳤다. 공연은 2시간을 훌쩍 넘기며 30곡 이상 쏟아졌고, 고양의 밤하늘은 데이식스의 멜로디로 물들었다. 이들은 “지난 앨범들의 모든 타이틀곡을 넣고, 다 함께 10년을 되돌아보는 시간을 갖자는 생각으로 세트리스트를 짰다”고 전했다.

 소감 역시 각별했다. 무더위가 채 가시지 않은 날씨 탓에 멤버들의 얼굴은 땀으로 범벅이 됐지만, 표정만큼은 누구보다도 밝았다. 객석에서 함께 떼창하는 ‘마이 데이’의 표정도 마찬가지였다. 원필은 “2015년 예스24에서 처음 콘서트를 했는데, 10년 뒤에 고양에서 콘서트를 한다는 게 믿어지지 않는다. 현실감이 없다”며 “이 현장의 분위기, 습도, 바람, 온도까지 제대로 만끽하면서 이 시간을 보내고 싶었다”고 말했다.

 신곡도 최초로 공개됐다. 새 정규 앨범의 더블 타이틀곡 ‘꿈의 버스’와 ‘인사이드 아웃(INSIDE OUT)’을 비롯해 ‘디스코 데이(Disco Day)’ ‘우리의 계절’ 등 수록곡까지 선보였다. 아직 발매 전인 곡임에도 불구하고, 멤버들의 유도 아래 팬들과 함께하는 떼창이 펼쳐져 감동을 배가했다. “신곡도 사랑해줄 건가요?”라는 멤버들의 질문에 팬들은 함성으로 화답했다.

 공연 말미, 영필은 데이식스의 지난 시간을 돌아보며 “여기까지 오는 게 순탄하지는 않았지만, 저희를 응원해준 ‘마이 데이’와 JYP엔터테인먼트 스태프 분들 덕분”이라고 말했다.
 원필은 “처음에는 JYP에서 밴드로 데뷔한다는 것에 좋지 않은 시선이 있었던 게 사실”이라며 “그런 시선을 부정하기 위해 정말 좋은 곡을 쓰고 싶었고, 여기 계신 분들이 저희를 믿어줬다”고 고마워했다. 그러면서 “이제부터는 2막”이라며 “팬분들이 후회 없는 인생이 될 수 있도록, 앞으로도 행복한 추억을 같이 만들어가자”고 다짐했다.
 한편, 데이식스는 5일 정규 4집 ‘더 데케이드’를 발표한다. 데뷔 첫 더블 타이틀곡이며, 약 5년 11개월 만에 선보이는 정규 앨범이다. roku@sportsseoul.com
