 전 세계 게임업계의 이목이 집중되는 세계 최대 게임쇼 게임스컴2025가 20일 오프닝 나이트 라이브 행사로 화려하게 막을 올렸다.
 매년 주목할만한 신작을 발표하는 행사답게 올해도 ‘콜오브듀티 블랙옵스7’와 ‘검은신화 오공’의 후속작 ‘검은신화 종규’ 등 화려한 라인업이 공개됐으며, 한국 게임사도 엔씨소프트의 신더시티를 필두로 신작들이 다수 소개돼 기대감을 끌어올렸다.

 이번 오프닝 나이트 라이브 행사에서 가장 많은 관심을 모은 것은 전 세계 FPS 시장을 주도하고 있는 콜오브듀티 시리즈의 신작 블랙옵스7이다. 다시 근미래로 돌아온 블랙옵스7은 시리즈 주요 인물인 메이슨이 다시 주역으로 등장하며, 미래 배경답게 거대 로봇, 드론은 물론이고, 순식간에 거리를 좁히는 갈고리 액션, 하늘을 나는 윙슈트 등으로 시선을 끌었다. 영상 중간에는 익숙한 좀비 모드도 등장했으며, 좀비 모드를 탑뷰 시점으로 플레이하는 모습도 등장해 관심을 모았다.

 행사의 마지막을 장식한 주인공은 지난해 ‘검은신화 오공’으로 전 세계를 놀라게 한 게임사이언스의 신작 ‘검은신화 종규’였다. 중국 신화를 바탕으로 한 시리즈를 이어가고 있는 게임사이언스는 이번에 중국에서 역병을 쫓는 신으로 불리는 종규를 주인공으로 선택했다. 한국에서는 잘 알려지지 않았지만, 일본에서는 꽤 유명한 신이라고 한다. 아직 개발 초기 단계인 만큼 실제 플레이 영상이 공개되지는 않았지만, 거대한 호랑이를 타고 등장하는 인상적인 장면으로 눈길을 끌었다.

 또한, 지난 2023년 리부트를 선보여 주목을 받았던 ‘로드 오브 더 폴른’의 후속작 ‘로드 오브 더 폴른2’가 공개됐으며, 워해머40K 팬들의 강력한 지지를 받고 있는 RTS ‘워해머 40K 던 오브 워4’도 공개돼 관심을 모았다. 두 게임 모두 전작 평이 좋지 않았던 만큼, 이번에 어떻게 달라진 모습을 보일지가 관건이다.

 이외에도 나올 때마다 익숙하지만 매력적인 재미를 선보이고 있는 레고 배트맨 시리즈의 신작 ‘레고 배트맨 레거시 오브 다크 나이트’, ‘고스트러너’ 개발진이 선보이는 1인칭 액션 게임 ‘밸러 모르티스', 만화 같은 그림체에 수준높은 벨트스크롤 액션을 더한 앱솔룸, ‘더 라스트 오브 어스’를 3D 픽셀로 옮긴 듯한 느낌의 스토리 어드벤처 게임 ‘롱곤’, ‘디스코 엘리시움’ 개발팀의 신작 ‘제로 퍼레이즈’ 등의 신작들이 다수 공개돼 눈길을 끌었다.

 올해 게임스컴에서 새로운 소식이 기대됐던 주목작들도 신규 영상을 공개했다. 지난해 더게임어워드의 주인공이었던 바이오하자드 레퀴엠은 주인공이 어머니와 함께 위협을 피해 도망치는 초반부 플레이 영상이 공개됐으며, ‘닌자가이덴4’와 ‘고스트 오브 요테이’, ‘할로우 나이트 실크송’, ‘귀무자 웨이 오브 더 소드’, ‘사일런트힐F’, ‘아우터월드2’ 등도 신규 영상을 공개해 기대감을 끌어올렸다.

 또한, 인기작들의 DLC 소식도 관심을 모았다. 인디아나존스를 되살린 ‘인디아나존스 그레이트 서클’의 DLC ‘디 오더 오브 자이언트’와 독특한 소재로 인기를 얻고 있는 로그라이크 게임인 컬트오브더램의 DLC ‘울헤이븐’, 올해 초 많은 관심을 모은 킹덤컴 딜리버런스2의 DLC ‘레거시 오브 더 포지’ 등이 눈길을 끌었다. 특히 ‘킹덤컴 딜리버런스2 레거시 오브 더 포지’는 헨리가 대장장이 길드의 일원이 되어 대장간을 직접 짓고 성장시키는 독특한 플레이를 선보일 예정이다.

 요즘 해외 시장 확대를 위해 게임쇼에 많은 공을 들이고 있는 한국 게임사들도 야심작들을 다수 소개했다. 엔씨소프트는 기존에 프로젝트LLL로 알려졌던 신작의 이름을 ‘신더시티’로 확정하고, 새로운 플레이 영상을 공개했으며, ‘검은사막 모바일’ PD로 잘 알려진 조용민 대표가 설립한 미스릴게임즈의 신작 ‘타임테이커즈’ 영상을 공개했다. 이 게임은 다양한 히어로들이 등장하는 3인칭 슈팅 배틀로얄 게임으로, 전투 과정에서 타임 에너지를 수집해 다양한 스킬을 해금하고 강화할 수 있는 것이 특징이다.

 이외에도 오프닝 나이트 라이브에서는 등장하지 않았지만, 펄어비스가 ‘붉은사막’의 새로운 시연 버전을 이번 게임스컴에서 공개하고, 카카오게임즈가 ‘갓 세이브 버밍엄’을, 조이시티가 ‘바이오하자드 서바이벌 유닛’, 위메이드맥스가 ‘미드나잇 워커스’를 선보이는 등 다수의 한국 게임들이 게임스컴을 찾은 전세계 게임 이용자들의 눈길을 사로잡을 예정이다.
