 걸그룹 트와이스가 ‘롤라팔루자’ 페스티벌 헤드라이너로 미국 시카고 여름밤을 뜨겁게 수놓았다. 트와이스는 2일(현지시간) 미국 일리노이주 시카고 그랜트 파크에서 열린 세계적인 대중음악 페스티벌 ‘롤라팔루자 시카고’(Lollapalooza Chicago) 헤드라이너로 무대에 올랐다. 트와이스는 하루 평균 11만 5000여 명이 모이는 초대형 공연에서 올리비아 로드리고, 사브리나 카펜터, 루크 콤즈, 에이셉 라키 등 글로벌 팝스타들과 함께 헤드라이닝 아티스트로 이름을 올렸다. 첫 글로벌 페스티벌 무대에 멤버들은 월드투어로 다져진 경험을 바탕으로 ‘글로벌 최정상 걸그룹’ 존재감을 입증했다.

 공연장인 그랜트 파크 곳곳에서 트와이스를 기다리는 ‘캔디봉’(공식 응원봉) 불빛이 일렁 거렸고 트와이스가 무대 위에 모습을 보이자 팬들의 환호가 터졌다. 첫 영어 싱글이자 미국 빌보드 메인 차트 ‘핫 100’ 첫 진입한 ‘The Feels’(더 필즈)가 공연 시작을 알리고 멤버들은 유창하게 호응을 유도했다. ‘MORE &amp; MORE’(모어 앤드 모어), ‘Dance The Night Away’(댄스 더 나잇 어웨이), ‘What is Love?’(왓 이즈 러브?) 등 트와이스 대표곡들이 공연 현장의 분위기를 뜨겁게 달궜다. 단체 및 나연, 모모 유닛 댄스 브레이크와 트와이스 노래로 펼쳐지는 라이브 밴드 셋으로 이어진 퍼포먼스는 다채로움을 다.

 여름 감성을 담은 히트곡 ‘Alcohol-Free’(알콜-프리), 라틴 스타일이 가미된 ‘ICON’(아이콘), 신스웨이브 장르 영향을 받은 ‘I CAN’T STOP ME‘(아이 캔트 스톱 미), 마이애미베이스 사운드에 기반한 팝 사운드 ‘MOONLIGHT SUNRISE’(문라이트 선라이즈) 등 다양한 음악 스펙트럼을 오가는 셋트리스트로 페스티벌에 걸맞은 공연을 이어갔다. 트와이스는 넓은 무대를 자유롭게 누비고 관객에게 인사를 건네거나 하트 포즈를 취해주며 관중을 축제 속으로 이끌었다. 트와이스가 오리지널 사운드 트랙에 참여해 세계적 인기몰이에 성공한 넷플릭스 ‘K팝 데몬 헌터스’의 ‘TAKEDOWN (JEONGYEON, JIHYO, CHAEYOUNG)’(테이크다운 (정연, 지효, 채영)) 무대에서는 우레와 같은 함성이 나왔다. 정연, 지효, 채영은 애니메이션 속 용감한 캐릭터 루미, 조이, 미라를 그대로 옮겨온 듯한 인상을 남기며 관람의 흥미를 높였다.

 여기에 빌보드 ‘핫 100’ 차트 역주행 인기를 구가하는 ‘Strategy’(스트래티지)도 공연의 현장 열기를 한층 끌어올렸다. ‘ONE SPARK’(원 스파크) 무대 이후 시카고 밤하늘에 트와이스 공식 로고, 멤버들을 모티브로 한 캐릭터 라부리(LOVELY), 그룹명 ‘TWICE’ 등이 화려하게 펼쳐지는 드론 쇼 이벤트가 여름밤 축제 분위기를 완성했다.

 최신곡 ‘THIS IS FOR’(디스 이즈 포)로 정점을 찍은 트와이스는 “Amazing time tonight!”을 외치고 “10년 동안 정말 많은 공연을 했지만 ‘롤라팔루자 시카고’가 우리의 첫 페스티벌 무대예요. 이 순간을 영원히 잊지 못할 것 같아요. 큰 함성으로 트와이스 공연을 즐겨주셔서 감사합니다. 여러분에게도 멋진 시간이었기를 바랍니다. 좋은 소식, 음악 그리고 월드투어로 다시 찾아올게요”라고 약속했고 관객들 박수와 환호 속에 앙코르까지 마쳤다. 트와이스 유튜브 채널에서 실시간으로 스트리밍이 된 롤라팔루자 공연 모습을 시청한 팬들은 호평을 쏟아냈다.
