 [스포츠서울 | 함상범 기자] ‘에스파 여동생’ 하츠투하츠(하투하)와 ‘아이브 여동생’ 키키가 8월 최고의 신인을 놓고 격돌한다. K팝을 대표하는 두 대형 기획사의 자존심을 건 올해 최고의 신인 걸그룹 맞대결에 가요계의 시선이 쏠린다.
 올해 상반기 가요계에서 신인으로서 가장 두각을 드러낸 팀들이다. 두 팀 모두 지난 2월 24일 데뷔했다. 하투하(카르멘·지우·유하·스텔라·주은·에이나·이안·예온)는 미니 앨범 ‘더 체이스(The Chase)’로 키키(지유·이솔·수이·하음·키야)는 ‘언컷잼(UNCUT GEM)의 타이틀곡 ‘아이 두 미(I Do Me)’를 선공개하며 2월 신인 대전을 겨뤘다. 신인의 승부는 우열을 가릴 수 없을 만큼 치열했다. 두 팀은 지난 6월 인천 인스파이어 아레나에서 열린 ‘제34회 서울가요대상’에서 신인상을 받기도 했다.

 뜨거운 햇살이 내리쬐는 8월, 2라운드가 시작된다. 하투하는 6월 18일 새 싱글 ‘스타일(Style)’을 내세웠고, 키키는 8월 6일 디지털 싱글 ‘댄싱 얼론(DANCING ALONE)’을 발표한다.
 먼저 발을 뗀 하투하는 분위기를 완전히 바꿨다. 몽환적이고 여성미가 짙었던 ‘더 체이스’와 달리 통통 튀고 발랄한 이미지로 탈바꿈했다. 경쾌한 리듬과 그루비한 베이스를 중심으로 만들어진 ‘스타일’은 1020의 밝은 에너지를 귀엽게 뽐낸다. 제 옷을 입은 듯 청량한 이미지가 펼쳐지자 하투하의 인기는 급상승하고 있다. ‘스타일’은 3일 기준 멜론 차트 탑100에선 29위, 핫100에선 14위를 기록하며 꾸준한 오름세에 있다.

 발매 후 일주일 판매량을 일컫는 초동 판매량 40만장을 넘어서며 신인 걸그룹의 기념비적인 기록을 남긴 하투하는 각종 음원 사이트에서 3개월 넘게 높은 순위를 기록하며 음반과 음원 고루 좋은 성적을 거뒀다. 새 음반 역시 좋은 성적을 거두면서 최고의 신인 입지를 굳게 다지고 있는 형세다.
 호재도 많다. 이안의 ‘골반춤’ 쇼츠가 중화권부터 큰 관심을 받게 됐다. “같이 걷자 난 다 궁금해” 파트를 부른 뒤 귀엽게 골반을 통통 튀기는 이안의 장면은 단 5초임에도 틱톡에서 1000만뷰를 넘으며 글로벌 사랑을 받고 있다.

 키키는 불완전한 청춘의 성장 서사로 ‘젠지美’를 완성 중이다. 불안한 현실 속에서도 멋과 재미를 추구하는 어린 세대의 심정을 다양한 방식으로 녹여냈다. K팝의 시그니처인 칼군무에서 벗어나 자유롭게 리듬을 느끼는 안무와 함께, “나는 내가 될 거예요”라는 주체적인 여성의 메시지를 담은 가사까지 조화를 이루며 큰 사랑을 받았다.
 초동 판매량은 20만장이지만, 음원 성적이 국내 모든 신인 그룹을 압도한다. 3월 멜론차트에 27위로 진입한 ‘아이 두 미’는 4월 19위까지 올라섰다. 시간이 꽤 지난 7월에도 60위권에 이름을 올렸다. 써클차트에선 첫 앨범 ‘언컷 젬(UNCUT GEM)’이 16위로 진입해 6월까지 34위를 기록하며 저력을 발휘하고 있다.

 키키는 지난달 27일 경기 일산 킨텍스에서 열린 ‘SBS 가요 대전 썸머 2025’에서 신곡 ‘댄싱 얼론’을 공개했다. 힘들 때 서로를 위한다는 위로의 메시지를 ‘아이 두 미’보다 더 힘있고 굵은 선으로 짰다. 이지 리스닝(Easy Listening)에 더불어 활력이 넘치는 안무까지 더해져 다시 한 번 높은 성과를 이룰 것이라는 기대가 감돈다.
 한 가요관계자는 “하투하는 SM 걸그룹의 계보를 이을만한 재능과 높은 잠재력을 갖고 있는 팀이다. 키키는 새로운 형태의 매력을 가진 ‘젠지’의 이미지를 고스란히 살렸다. 5세대 걸그룹 대표주자라는 수식어가 손색없다”고 평가했다. intellybeast@sportsseoul.com
