 [티브이데일리 이기은 기자] ‘메리 킬즈 피플’ 이보영이 고른 작품, 평범할 리 없다.
 1일 밤 방송된 MBC 새 금토드라마 ‘메리 킬즈 피플’(극본 이수아·연출 박준우) 첫 방송 1회에서는 치료 불가능한 환자들의 조력 사망을 돕는 의사 우소정(이보영) 등 이들을 추적하는 형사 안태성(김태우)의 서스펜스가 포문을 열었다.
 이날 독특한 길을 가기로 한 우소정의 선택과 그 과정이 그려졌다. 우소정은 2년 전 통증으로 극심한 고통을 받는 환자를 떠나보내고 말았다.
 그는 환자가 제 눈 앞에서 사망한 것에 회의를 느꼈고, 더 이상 의학적으로 치료가 불가능한 환자들의 고통을 그저 묵과하지만은 않겠다는 결심을 했다.
 나름의 윤리적이고 개인적인 선택을 한 그는 사람들이 삶과 죽음을 선택할 수 있어야 한다고 주장했다. 이 독특한 의료 인력에게 다가올 윤리적 딜레마는 향후 더 드라마틱하게 그려질 전망이다.

 오랜만에 안방극장에 컴백한 이보영은 특유의 안정적인 발음, 발성, 드라마 극본에 대한 스마트한 해석으로 원톱 주인공의 존재감을 한껏 과시했다.
 특히 그는 전작들에 관련, 유의미하고 참신한 설정이 있는 다양한 장르물을 잘 간파해내는 좋은 혜안을 가진 여배우로도 유명하다. 그가 선택한 드라마, 그 자체로 공증돼 있다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 이보영의 극본 안목, 이번에도 믿어볼 차례다.
