 [스포츠서울 | 배우근 기자] 아이돌에게 그라운드는 무대의 연장선일 뿐이다.
 그룹 아이브(IVE)의 멤버 장원영이 지난 30일 수원월드컵경기장에서 열린 ‘2025 쿠팡플레이 시리즈’에서 시축에 나선 이후, 그의 스타일링을 두고 논란이 일고 있다.
 홀터넥 원피스 형태로 리폼된 축구 유니폼이 일부 네티즌 사이에서 “노출이 과하다”, “행사 취지와 맞지 않는다”는 지적을 받으며 갑론을박이 이어진 것.
 특히 장원영의 중국 팬덤은 31일 성명문을 발표하며 “장원영에게 입힌 의상은 팬들의 강한 분노를 불러 일으켰다. 해당 의상은 지나치게 몸에 달라붙고 노출이 심해, 장원영이 행사에서 자연스럽게 움직이는데 큰 제약을 주었다”라고 주장했다.

 하지만 이번 의상은 ‘시축’이라는 스포츠 이벤트이면서 동시에 ‘공연무대’라는 측면으로 접근할 필요가 있다.
 이날 아이브는 단순 시축 외에도 하프타임 공연까지 맡았고, 멤버들은 각자 원하는 콘셉트에 맞춰 유니폼을 자유롭게 리폼했다.
 실제로 멤버 레이는 “각자 입고 싶은 대로 리폼을 부탁한 것”이라고 밝히며 스타일링이 멤버들의 자율적인 선택이었음을 강조했다.
 K팝 아이돌의 시구·시축은 단순한 체육행사가 아니다. 이는 곧 무대이며, 대중 앞에 서는 하나의 ‘쇼’다.
 야구 시구, 축구 시축 등 스포츠 이벤트에서 유니폼을 리폼해 입는 일은 이미 오래된 관행이다. 자신만의 개성과 메시지를 담는 것이다.
 선수도 아닌 이들에게 ‘운동복 TPO’를 요구하는 것은 구시대적 잣대라는 지적도 나오는 이유다.

 실제로 장원영은 이번 무대에서 무리한 콘셉트 소화 없이 자신만의 당당한 애티튜드로 무대를 빛냈다.
 시축 이후 장면에서 미소와 손 키스를 보내는 여유 있는 태도는 축구 팬과 K팝 팬 모두에게 긍정의 인상을 남겼다.
 한 연예계 관계자 역시 “시축도 결국은 아티스트의 브랜드를 표현하는 하나의 수단이다. K팝 걸그룹에게는 패션, 콘셉트, 퍼포먼스가 모두 아우러진 ‘퍼포먼스 장르다. 이를 스포츠 현장이라고 해서 따로 떼어놓고 볼 순 없다”고 불거진 논란을 정리했다.
 한편 아이브는 8월 1일부터 3일까지(현지시간) 미국 LA크립토닷컴 아레나와 LA 컨벤션 센터에서 개최되는 ‘KCON LA 2025’에 참석하기 위해 31일 출국했다.
